On display are six works by two great American artists: Connie Fox and Heather Wilcoxon. The first is attracted by experience, accessing her images through a fusion of instinct and illusion: her vision is galvanized by the “thoughtful” subjectivity of Surrealism. The figurative elements that “embed” in his energetic brushstroke are an expression of the grip on representation. The young artist rides the abstraction, the observation and the untouched underworld of European surrealists Yves Tanguy, Joan Miro and Max Ernest. His art is influenced by the early modernists: P. Klee, V. Kandinskij and M. Duchamp. The content and theme of Wilcoxon’s works are constantly changing. Sometimes they reflect a personal statement about lost love, physical pain or loneliness; sometimes they are expressions of the artist’s concerns about the contemporary human condition, such as greed, narcissism, the power of power and the destruction of the planet.
