Conference organized by the Matrix Committee and a.titolo, collective of art curators. An opportunity for experts to discuss the relationship between project culture and fragile areas, on how artistic creation and architecture can contribute to counteract growing phenomena of abandonment in line with the national development project called “Strategies for Internal Areas” , areas that make up two thirds of our country. From 14.30 to 16.30 the first session of interventions on the phenomenon of artist residences in the internal areas and their potential for revitalizing territories and community bonds. Moderator Luisa Perlo of a.titolo, Speakers: Alice Benessia, artist, researcher and theoretical physics, creator in Levice of the Center for Research in the Arts and the Sciences of Pianpicollo Selvatico, site of the Pianpicollo Research Residency project; Maurizio Cilli, architect, artist and urban researcher, first artist in residence of Pianpicollo Research Residency; Rebecca De Marchi, architect, artist and curator – already creator of the Eco and Narciso project of the Province of Turin and curator of the Saluzzo Rural Happening project promoted by the IGAV; Emanuele Piccardo, photographer, historian and architecture critic and creator of the Nasagonando project in collaboration with the Municipality of Ormea; Stefano Boccalini, artist and professor of public art at NABA in Milan, artist of the Nasagonando project and consultant of the Aperto_art on the border project in Val Camonica, in dialogue with Andrea Bocco, Professor of DIST Polytechnic, former director of the local development agency of San Salvario and external professor of the Banca del Fare project workshops of the Alta Langa Cultural Park. From 17 to 19, the second session of interventions, moderated by Otto Bugnano di Matrice, draws inspiration from the first organic study conducted at a multidisciplinary level on the Italian marginal areas merged at the end of 2018 in the publication “Riabitare Italia” (Donzelli publisher, edited by by A. Derossi). There will be one of its creators, Filippo Barbera, professor of sociology at the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society of the University of Turin; Giovanna Segre, economist of culture, professor of the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Turin and Santagata Foundation, Marco Bussone, national president of Uncem, National Union of mountain communities, Don Luca Peyron and Ivan Andreis of Caritas Regionale Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta, and Valentina Dania of the Art, cultural assets and activities sector of the CRC Foundation.
